Overall, it must be established that all of the films discussed in this study were successful in their own right, without even taking transnational marketing into consideration. However, when the transnational marketing is taken into account, it is evident that every film was successful in a particular way upon release, whether it was at a premiere, a film festival or at the international box office.
In conclusion, from the research shown, transnational genre films are more successful internationally, however, it could be said that this is only because of the studio and genre attached to the film, and their general released makes them available for everyone to watch. On the other hand, national films seem to be forever in the shadow of the transnational blockbuster; they have low viewing figures and takings at the box office but, it could be argued that this is simply because they do not get the general release that they deserve and the general public are therefore unaware of them, however, I put it that if Spanish national films were given a week of international release, there would be far more interest than cinema directors would have first ever presumed.
